The kids enjoyed another fun morning of swimming at the Haverhill High School pool. On Tuesday of the week we will be going to Jay Gee’s arcade and on Thursday we will be going to Dave and Buster’s. Our theme day Wednesday is Occupation Day. Our group won theme day last week because we had the most camp spirit in our green and we hope to have as much participation this week! Our kids will receive Hoodsie ice cream cups some time this week as a prize. We would also like to give a shout-out to our fabulous counselors in training, Camryn Cuoco and Jocelyn Flynn. We could not do it without them! We cannot believe it is week three already and cannot wait to see what the rest of summer brings!
Grade 2A is having a wonderful summer so far! Last Thursday we had our gift card giveaway with many great prizes. Our lucky winners included Meilani Delgado, Cassidy Leighton, and Julia Bodie. We also enjoyed our trip to Chunky’s Cinema in Nashua on Friday afternoon to see Minions. The kids enjoyed a pizza lunch and ice cream during the movie. In arts and crafts last week we made friendship bead bracelets and had some time free time. In project enrichment we made balloon rockets and Ms. Lynch made an extra big rocket to shoot off at the end of the block. We did our first two truths and a lie in computer lab with Aidan and it was tricky for the kids to figure out! The activity room has proved to be a great way to cool off and relax while watching a movie. So far we have watched The Fox and the Hound and Lady and the Tramp. This year at camp we have a new activity at the end of every Tuesday and Wednesday called Free Time. The counselors are split up around camp and the kids can choose to go in any room or outside if they wish. Unfortunately, we have not been able to have water games yet with the way our schedule has worked out. Our water games block falls at the end of the day on Fridays.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK! :) G7 kicked off week 2 here at GSRO with a hot Monday! We had another great 1st block in the project room making bouncy balls! A simple mixture of Borax, water, and corn starch, with a little bit of food coloring made some crazy-looking bouncy balls!
G7 was outside twice in the heat, but was lucky enough to have water games to cool down! Poos filled with cold water and counsellors getting soaked by the kids is always a favorite! Tuesday brought another hot day, but nothing stops G7! Sports outside was first for the day, with a competitive and awesome game of soccer! It's always a very fun and close game with G7 showing awseome sportsmanship when some 1st graders wnated to play as well! Luckily, the computer lab after lunck kept G7 nice and cool! Wednesday was another awesome day that started with a trip to arts and crafts Week 2 at GSRP has been filled with tons of fun and good times! Grade 5 has been really enjoying capture the flag outside, dodgeball in the gym, and also trying new games. Jenna taught the kids how to play a circle game called follow and we also learned how to play ultimate frisbee! Grade 4B was a great competitor for ultimate, thanks for joining us guys! Also during week two we tried to make bouncy balls in project enrichment! Jarred R’s bouncy ball bounced the highest. Then later that week in project enrichment, we made balloon zip lines out of fishing line, balloons, and straws! Stella M’s birthday was Tuesday, Happy Birthday girl! This week we also had the gift card give away! Nolan G won a Dunkin Donuts gift card and Sam D won a Carter's Ice Cream gift card; congrats guys! G5 is also getting very excited for our field trip this week to Chunky's. The Minions movie is going to be super awesome! Jeff, Haylee, and Jenna would just like to remind the kids to ALWAYS bring their water bottles and to remember money for ice cream days! Thanks for a great week 5th Grade Ballers, and looking forward to week 3!
It's been a hot week here at GSRP, by it hasn't stopped us from having fun! On Mondays, grades 1-4 had their first swimming day of the summer at the Haverhill High School pool! On Tuesday, the whole camp had their first free choice block period of the summer, which we will be having on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The campers are allowed to pick whatever activity they would like to do, for the last block of the day! On Wednesday, we had our annual gift card giveaway, where every camper receives a number, which are drawn at random. Today we have the chance to visit the ice cream cart again and try something new with free block. On Friday, we are going on our annual trip to Chunky's Movie Theater to see the opening of the Minions movie! The rest of this week is busy, but should just just as fun as the beginning of the week!
As week two unfolded on the 6th grade squad, there were many activities and plenty of new faces to participate in what turned out to be a very exciting week. The 6th Grade Squad is full of GSRP veterans. They behave exceptionally well and really know how to have fun, no matter what event is on that schedule. This week really kicked off when the campers were taught how to make bouncy balls. Jeremy and Carolyn realized that these 6th graders could be great chemists as they began mixing water with borax, corn starch, glue and then topped it off with a color of their choice. When the 6th graders competed to see whose bouncy ball bounced the highest, Zak Eckholt took home the crown.
Week 2 also brought the 6th graders first day at water games. While many of them got to experience water country, GSRP has two massive slides to choose from. The group seemed to have a lot of fun plummeting their way into the cold water at the bottom, even though many of them knew they forgot their towels. Kickball out back was where Jeremy and Carolyn realized that they had a competitive bunch to watch over. Ava N and Grace B brought out a side that no one had ever seen before out on that kickball diamond. These two helped their teams both on the field and at bat but it was Grace who led her team to a victory. In the activity room, the movie "Shiloh" was a big hit as the campers watched most of the movie during this block. On the other side of the room, campers battled each other out in UNO, where CIT’s Nick S and Jared M taught many campers the rules of the very popular card game. All this fun doesn’t just happen on an empty stomach; this weeks hot lunch was chicken tenders from the very popular Par 97 where the campers stuffed their faces with the lunch that Megan L described as “to die for”. Guitar lessons with Aidan Gorrell proved to be a hit for Sydney W, who now believes that she has the potential to be a rock star, something that I’m sure all of GSRP would love to see. As the campers look forward to what is to come in Week 3, they know that no matter what the 7th graders will never beat them in a game of dodgeball. We’ve had a great week so far in the third grade! Last week we had our Water Country field trip, where we found something fun for everyone to do. Ms. Brackett, our wonderful Arts & Crafts teacher, stayed with grade three all day so that we could break up into smaller groups and have as much fun as possible. It was a short week last week, so everyone was especially excited to start week two. We loved hearing about all the kids’ fun Fourth of July weekends on Monday.
We welcomed seven new campers this week and it has been so much fun having a bigger group. This Monday, we had our first day of swimming. It’s been such a hot week already, so it was great to be able to cool off by the pool for a few hours. Everyone passed the swim test, and a lot of us chose to jump off the diving board. Third grade has some really strong swimmers! Project enrichment has had some cool projects this week. We made our own bouncy balls on Monday, and on Tuesday we launched balloon rockets. Arts & Crafts has been super fun too, and on Tuesday we made some awesome tape and paint designs. Everyone is so creative – no two pictures looked alike! At camp this week we had our very first theme day. This week was color week, and our group’s color was pink. Third grade more than stepped up to the plate with their pink gear. We wanted to make special mentions to Molly LeBel who rocked a fabulous pink tutu and Nathan White who proved his dedication to the group by bringing in his mom’s pink scrubs to wear. Whether or not we win, we are so proud of our group’s spirit! At the end of the week we have our Chunky’s field trip where we are going to be seeing Minions. Our group has a great sense of humor, so the movie should be a great choice for us! We also have our very first water games scheduled for Thursday, which we have been looking forward to since camp started. It's shaping up to be a great summer! This week at camp, your first graders have been outstanding!! On Monday, we went swimming,
and your children showed Jimmy and Allie their swimming skills. We all splashed around in the pool for a while and had a blast. This week we also made bouncy balls in the project room with Miss Lynch, and they were literally bouncing off the walls. Also coming up this week, we are seeing The Minions. Your children are all beyond excited about the movie! We are also looking forward to free choice. Free choice is where all of the children are allowed to choose any supervised room to go to or even play outdoors. All of the children are more than excited that the game room will be one of the supervised rooms because they all love the bouncy house! Also this week everyone is so excited for the ice cream cart. We are all counting down the minutes until it’s our time to get out ice cream. This week your children have shown us that they are all phenomenal athletes as well. On Tuesday, we were outside with a group of older kids playing soccer and your children fit right in there with them. As a group, we also played a game of hockey, which was very fun and enjoyable for all. Jimmy and I both think “they are better athletes than us”. Last week our field trip was to Water Country. We had a blast climbing on the pirate ship and playing on the water jungle gym. Bryce and Jack were also tall enough to enjoy the whirl pool with Allie as the other children played in the octopus area. Jimmy and Allie also took your kids down the lazy lagoon, and everyone was laughing as we all got splashed by the water. At the end of the day, we were all so sad to leave, a few of your children even said, “this is the awesomest day of my life!” We were also lucky enough to have Aidan teach us how to play a song using the new guitars we have here at GSRP. Each child picked up the guitars so eager to learn to play, and within minutes they all got the hang of it. We have so many more exciting thigs to look forward to in the upcoming weeks, but Jimmy and Allie are more than happy that your children are as happy to be here as we are. Welcome to week two at GSRP! This week we have a ton of great activities planned for a fun and busy week! On Wednesday, we have our annual gift card giveaway, in which all the kids will have an opportunity to win all kinds of great prizes. Group 2B cannot wait for this exciting activity, as they have asked counsellors Sabrina and Scottie about it almost every block!
Aside from the gift card giveaway, on Friday we have our nnual field trip to Chunky's Movie Theater. This year we will be seeing Minions, and the kids could not be more excited about seeing this film on opening day! In fact, Aiden N. was so excited, he thought we were getting a special screening of the movie! However, even with all the anticipated fun, we cannot forget about all the fun we are having beforehand. The most popular game in group 2B has overwhelmingly been knockout. The boys always have a basketball in hand, ready to battle each other on the hoops! Evie Z has even found a love for basketball, making her first ever shot in the hoop right here at GSRP! She's even has gotten numerous people out, including seventh graders, putting a lasting smile on her face. Scottie and Sabrina could not be more proud of their second graders for trying new sports, games, and activities. This week, the kids even had the opportunity to try swimming in the Haverhill High pool! Not everyone was excited to get in, but by the end of the trip, Scottie and Sabrina had every camper smiling and ready to get in the water next week! Overall, the second week at GSRP has been off to a great start and there is lots more to come! Week one was a lot of fun with these campers! Our Water Country field trip was the best! We had five campers come on our field trip, so we enjoyed being able to stay together!
We had a great start to week two by gaining two new campers! Now 1A has a whopping nine campers! We started our week off by going swimming at Haverhill High! We recommend sending them in their bathing suits on Monday because we go swimming first thing every Monday! Also, if they cannot swim it is a great idea to send floaties, even if they can it is a good idea! Each week here at camp, we have a theme and a spirit day! This weeks theme is color week! Grade one is red, so on Wednesday make sure you send your campers in as much red as you can! The grade that has the most participation wins a prize, and 1A wants the prize this week! Since this weeks theme is "colors" when we had story time, Mrs.Stevens picked out the book, Rainbow Fish! We enjoyed listening to her read and then were able to make our own Rainbow Fish! We colored our fishies head, fins, and tails. Then we got to glue tissue paper as the beautiful scales. The finishing touch was gluing our sparkle scales! Also we glued googley eyes on and got to decorate the background! The 1A group did such a fabulous job with their fish! Erica and Maddie were so impressed by their hard work and determination! Today we started our day outback and played on the playground. We played one of our favorite games, where we sit in the firetruck and Maddie tells the campers that she wants pizza, then when they get to the pizza store she changes her mind and tells the campers she wants something else. We are very excited for our hot lunch this week! We are going to Chunkys on Friday to see the brand new Minion movie! Our group is very excited to go on this trip. Please remember to dress the kiddos in RED on Wednesday and hot lunch will also be served,if you sent in money! We are excited to spend the next five weeks with 1A! |
