It's been another awesome week for Grade 7! On Monday, we welcomed some new campers and our first CIT. Campers spent their morning playing Aruba in the Activity Room, which has quickly become a group favorite. They also had a great time in Arts and crafts, where they created "Melting Bead" and gimp art projects.
On Tuesday, G7 began the day in the computer lab. During this block, our campers love trying to beat each other's high scores and discover new games, but the best part of the day was during the afternoon's Gift Card Giveaway! We had a number of campers win gift cards, including Lorenzo, Dan, Ryan B. and Ryan C. Campers enjoyed this raffle, and we're glad we had some winners in our group! Wednesday was another hot day, but that didn't slow down G7! We started our day with games of kickball and four square (two of our group's favorite activities). Later on, campers made marshmallow launchers during Project Enrichment. Campers were able to take their projects outside and launch pom-poms, beads, and marshmallows. The highlight of our week was definitely the trip to Splashtown on Thursday! Campers were eager to ride many of the slides. Our group's favorites were "The Tornado" and "Poseidon's Plunge." Both rides were full of twists and turns, and G7 could not get enough! Many campers also had races on some of the other slides and enjoyed exploring the park's "Pirate's Paradise." Week 3 was another wonderful week for G7, and we are looking forward to Week 4! ![]() We are glad to be back at camp after a long holiday weekend! We hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July! From the stories we have heard from the campers, it sounds like everyone had a great weekend! Week Three has been very busy with a lot of great events. On Monday, we welcomed four new members to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Tacos. After getting to know each other, we played in the game room, played hockey outside and played doctor dodgeball in gym. The CITs also set up handball for us to play for the first time this summer. It was fun to try a new game besides the usual capture the flag. Tuesday was a fun filled day at GSRP. Campers got the chance to go to the ice cream cart, and Mr. C had a special treat in store for the whole camp as well. After lunch, the whole camp participated in the annual gift card giveaway. Two lucky members of 6B won Carter's gift cards in the first round of giveaways! After the gift card giveaway, we headed to Project Enrichment where the campers made their own lava lamps. All the campers have to do is Alka-Seltzer at home to make their lava lamps work! The 6B T.M.N.Tacos learned a new game on Wednesday. In gym, Ryan introduced us to a new game called Capture the Pins. 6B was split into two groups and each group was given 9 bowling pins. Each team could arrange the pins however they wanted on the baseline, and the goal of the game was to capture all of the other team's pins without getting tagged. It was a lot of fun and something a lot of us had never played before. The kids also got to make Marshmallow shooters in Project Enrichment with a cup and balloon. It was a lot of fun to test them outside with marshmallows, beads, and pom-poms. Thursday's field trip was to Splash Town in Maine! This was a great way to cool off from the summer heat! We hope everyone enjoyed the trip! As always, please remember to send your camper with a water bottle each day as we want everyone to stay hydrated! If your child is attending camp next week, we will be going to Salem Willows for a field trip and then we will be going on a whale watch on Thursday! We hope everyone has a great weekend! Check out the new upload for this week. It includes theme day winners, important information, shout outs, and much more! ![]()
![]() Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and we are glad to see everyone back! Monday started off with our traditional and always exciting game of hockey vs. G7. Later in the day we played water games, where the campers enjoyed soaking the counselors! The highlight of Tuesday was the gift card give away, where each campers received a number and if their number was called they could win a variety of prizes; such as gift cards to Carters, Amazon, iTunes and more! Our group was about to burst with excitement and suspense as the numbers were called. However, G6A only had one winner and that was Kyle! On Wednesday, Group 6A enjoyed playing an intense game of Extreme Knockout which lasted the entire block as well as making Sand Art in Arts & Crafts. 6A also played an exciting game of Aruba and loved participating in Doctor Dodgeball in the gym! On Thursday, the campers had such a fun day at Splashtown Waterpark in Saco, Maine. There were so many waterslides that Group 6A loved, especially the Tornado and Mammoth! Some daring campers even went on two waterslides in which the floor dropped from under your feet! ![]() Grade 5 has been having such a great thirrd week! The kids have been loving coming to camp every day and doing all the fun activities and games. The weather has stayed pretty hot, but it has been no setback for the Swagalicious Penguins! This week, we have a whopping 35 kids including the CITs; however, even with such a large number, the Grade 5 group has been having a super fun time and doing well including everyone in games. One thing we did this week was try a new game at water games called “Drip Drip Drop”, which is exactly like “Duck Duck Goose” but with a soaked sponge. As the “Dropper” goes around the circle they drip the sponge on each person until they get someone they want to squeeze all the water from the sponge on; then that person jumps up and tries to chase the “Dropper” back to their spot in the circle. The game was great for those kids who didn’t want to go on the big water slide, but still wanted to get wet. We will probably play this game a lot at water games, and we want to make sure the kids always bring a bathing suit and a towel every day to camp! This weeks’ field trip to Splashtown in Saco, Maine was another successful day. The kids loved the big water slides and especially playing in the pool and at “Pirate's Paradise”. We are also looking forward to the field trip next week on the whale watch. Hopefully we will see a whale or two! Week 4 can bring on the heat once again but we are really strict on drinking water and reapplying sunscreen so the heat doesn’t even faze our awesome G5 Kids. Till next time, campers and parents, have a good weekend!! ![]() We hope everyone had a safe, fun, and exciting Fourth of July. G4 has had a really eventful week. This week, we welcomed five new campers to G4. Our CITs and campers go all out in knockout, even though Maddie claims to be the best at basketball. The game of spoons is still going strong; the campers and CITs really enjoy playing. All of the campers really enjoyed our field trip to Chunky’s to see How to train your Dragon 2. Accompanied by pizza, ice cream, and drinks, the Chunky’s experience was great! Our next field trip is to Splashtown in Saco, Maine. This trip may even top last week’s trip! We are asking the campers to wear their bathing suits to camp, because we will not have enough time to change everyone before we leave. Please remember water bottles and a lunch, it is really hard to beat the heat here at camp so we ask everyone to pack at least one water bottle. This week’s theme for theme day is super hero week, and the campers at “G-Fource” are super excited. Let’s try and win this week’s theme day as a group and everyone wear their best super hero costumes and kick some super-villains butt! We have an extra ice cream cart day this week on Friday, so make sure you bring 1-3 dollars. Also, we are swimming this Friday so please remember your bathing suits! Have a lovely week! |
