Week 7 is here already! As Zoe Wallnewitz said, "This was the best summer ever!" Last week we enjoyed our long field trip to Cranmore Mountain. We were so surprised to see how brave our second graders were on the ski lift ride! The biggest hits of the day by far were the mountain roller coaster and tubing down the giant hill. Ben and I were able to split up the group so our second graders were able to have some flexibility for what they wanted to do. Thanks to Mrs. Stevens we were able to watch some movies during the bus ride including Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, and Home. Miss Lynch told our kids that we had to act like fancy people since we were riding such fancy buses. Our group had excellent behavior on the bus rides and at Cranmore. It was a long day full of fun! This week we have a bonus field trip on Tuesday, which will be to Joe's Play-land in Salisbury. A pizza lunch is included and extra money can be brought for the arcade.Tuesday is also the night of our annual end of the summer luau dance party. The dance will be 6:30 to 8 and candy and drinks will be sold for purchase. This is one of our favorite events of the summer!
The ice cream cart will be open for an extra day this week on Monday. This week the campers have a choice of buying a regular ice cream or making their own ice cream sundae for four dollars. Sadly, Monday is also our last day of swimming at Haverhill High School for the summer. This Wednesday is our theme day, which is mismatch day this week. Hot lunch will be chicken fingers. We will also have our end of summer award ceremony. Ben and I had such a difficult time picking only a handful of our kids to receive awards...G2 is the best group ever! On Thursday we have our final field trip to Crane Beach in Ipswich. This is always an exciting (and wet) day! On our last day of camp we will have a cookout and the talent show. We are trying to get most of G2 to show their talents on stage!
This summer has been a great first year for Ben and according to Alli, her favorite year so far. We could not have asked for a better group of kids to spend these past seven weeks with! Grade 2 is the best and we cannot wait to see how much they grow throughout the school year. We are going to take advantage of all the fun we have planned for this week because we are definitely not ready to say goodbye just yet...G2 forever!!!!
