This week had been Grade 5’s best week yet!! On Monday, the campers got to play with moon sand in Project Enrichment, and on Wednesday, they got to use that same sand to build volcanoes!!! Lily Anthony, Stella Mondejar, and Rowan Kelly had the coolest, most explosive volcano, which they called King Kaboom. Later in the day on Monday there was a curious creatures presentation. The kids really loved learning about the animals and were excited that they could touch the animals too. Charlie the chinchilla was a big hit with the kids, and they especially liked when he used a bowl of dust to clean himself. Another crowd favorite was Gus the tortoise, who was over eighty years old!
Tuesday was the opening day of our GSRP hockey tournament! Kyle, Nick, James, Nick York, Nick Nahid, and Amelia O’Brien advanced to the championship game being played on Friday! Good luck guys!
On Wednesday, the kids enjoyed a delicious Chinese food buffet, featuring chicken fingers, chicken wings, crab rangoons, and fried rice, and finished up with some fortune cookies.
Thursday was our mountain field trip to Cranmore Adventure Park! There, the kids got to go on the spider climb, the rock climbing wall, and made their way through the bouncy obstacle course. After that, they got strapped in to harnesses for the aerial ropes course, where they got to choose different courses ranging from the easiest yellow course to the hardest black diamond course. After a nice lunch in the lodge, Grade 5 enjoyed a ride down the mountain on the coaster and bounced around on the Bungie Jump! Before we left, we rode to the summit of Cranmore Mountain on the ski lift and saw a beautiful view of the white mountains at the top! The kids also really liked riding the coach busses to Cranmore and back to camp.
On Friday, we went swimming gat the Haverhill High School, where the kids played a lively game of Marco Polo and had a diving competition off of the diving board. Next week is our last week and the Grade 5 counselors are sad the summer is winding down but we are also so excited to see what next week brings!
