Week two ended with Grade 6 watching Minions at one of the best movie theaters around, Chunky’s Cinema and Pub. This great finish to week two even brought chatter into week three about how funny the minions truly were. To start to week 3, new faces began to arrive at "The Squad's" table, but over the years, the campers have looked forward to this aspect of camp life. A new week brings a whole new squad, and even more fun.
The campers knew that they had two field trips to look forward to this week which brought a lot of excitement into GSRP. We kicked off Monday with the 6th graders building mazes out of cardboard and tape in Project Enrichment. This turned into a friendly competition where the teams used tin foil balls and rolled them through the very detailed and complicated mazes. The power team, including 3 CITS and camper Peyton Walsh, took the title of best maze as campers voted at the end of the period. Two days Later the Campers took part in another project known as the egg drop that is an all around GSRP favorite. The 6th Grade Squad broke up into groups again and designed a contraption that holds an egg as it falls from various heights. If the egg doesn’t crack then the height gradually increases until there is a winner. Water Games was another hit during week three as Jacob Wright finally remembered a change of clothes. This week involved a countless number of squirt guns out at water games because of the 90 degree day that the campers were a part of.
Jay Gee’s was the destination for Frank Majewski and his crew of reckless drivers as they took their talents out to the Go-Cart track. There were also batting cages where Connor Flynn proved that he could easily hit a 50 mph fastball, no matter what size helmet he had on his head. Another surprise to counselors Jeremy and Carolyn were the golfers that they had on the mini golf course that day. Ava Nadeau, Jessica Cooney and Grace Brennan showed Grade 6 that Mini Golf is woman’s sport as they dominated out on the links. Ryan Pfifferling got a hole in 1 on the 3rd hole, something that will most likely go down in the hall of fame at Jay Gee's. With week 3 coming to an end the 6th grade squad is ready for what is to come in the upcoming weeks.
