We are excited to be the grade 3A counselors for your little campers! Sarah has been at GSRP for 4 summers. She is happy to see some familiar faces after having some of the group two years ago as first graders. Cam is returning as a first year counselor after attending GSRP for the past 3 years as Sarah’s CIT. Cam is also excited to be with these awesome 3rd graders.
Monday was our first day at camp, and the campers were certainly surprised to see some familiar faces. As third graders they are starting to know the ropes around here at camp, which makes everything a little easier. In order to keep things happy and structured, as a group we agreed on three rules; 1) Listen to others when they are speaking 2) Keep our hands and feet to ourselves, and 3) HAVE FUN!!!
Our schedule has been pretty packed. Overall, their favorite activities on Monday were dodge ball and water games hands down. Everyone enjoys playing Doctor Dodge Ball and getting a chance to be the doctor. Outside at water games, everyone was pumped to get back on the water slide, but even more excited to soak the counselors. All they really need at water games is a hose and some buckets to chase after the counselors. Sarah was drenched within the first 10 minutes of the block!
After a great day and lots of participation on Monday, the kids came back ready to go for another day. We started off with a fun project involving water, pepper, and soap in Project Enrichment, and they came up with some great ideas for the rest of the summer including volcanoes, Mentos and Coke, and Rockets. As we continue today, we are looking forward to ice cream this afternoon and water games!
Make sure the kids wear their camp T-shirt on Thursday for this week’s field trip to the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide baseball game. The kids are excited to have RED as their color for this week’s theme day on Friday, so remind them to wear as many articles of RED as possible. There is a lot to look forward to this week! We can’t wait to see what the summer has in store.
