These last few days have certainly been busy and action-packed for G3A! On Thursday, we took our longest trip of the year to Santa’s Village in Jefferson, NH. The kids loved the coach bus rides there and back, enjoying the movies Ice Age, Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and Shrek. At Santa’s Village we survived the on and off rain, enjoying as many rides as we could get on. On Friday, we went to the Haverhill pool and enjoyed watching the hockey championship game.
Week 7 has gotten off to a roaring start. On Monday, we enjoyed our final pool trip, a place that has been great this summer for beating the hot days. After the pool, we were treated to the Rainforest Reptile Show. We saw a tortoise, a lizard, a big boa constrictor, and even an alligator! Although many of the counselors were terrified, the kids loved the show and even got to hold the animals! On Tuesday, we took our bonus trip to Lego Land at Assembly Row in Somerville. The kids saw some awesome Lego creations and enjoyed some interactive activities. After that, the kids watched the annual counselor vs. campers basketball game. The counselors, including Sarah and Cam, narrowly beat the 6th and 7th graders 30-28. It was a great time for everyone. Wednesday included our annual award ceremony, where kids received awards for things such as Kindness, Participation, and Sportsmanship. Unfortunately there just isn’t enough awards for everyone, but we think they all deserved one!
Thursday brings our awesome Crane’s Beach, all-day field trip. Make sure the kids wear their 2014 GSRP t-shirts, bring water, snack, and lunch, and any beach toys they can carry themselves. Crane’s Beach doesn’t allow boogie boards or floatation devices so make sure they don’t bring any. Also have the kids have their first coat of sunscreen applied before they come to camp, and make sure they bring extra! Friday brings the final day of camp, the talent show, and our annual cookout. The kids don’t need to bring a lunch on Friday, just snack and water. Also make sure if they are performing in the show that they come with everything they need, including music.
We have really enjoyed being the G3A counselors this year. We had a lot of fun playing dodge ball, Four-Square, and soccer to name a few. Everyone always brought smiles to our faces, and they were all joys to be around. We wish them the best in school this year and really hope to see them all next summer! Have a nice remainder of your summers!
