Summer is flying by! We cannot believe that there is only one week left of camp! The 6A Oompa Loompas just finished their sixth week of summer camp, and the kids have been having a great time. This week was highlighted by the hockey tournament and the field trip to Attitash Mountain Resort.
On Monday, the kids were allowed to sign up for the hockey tournament, and we had several campers from our group that joined. The kids practiced on Tuesday and had games on Wednesday and Friday. For our group, the day was highlighted by our trip to the pool at Haverhill High School. The pool was a great way to start the week. The kids had a blast diving and doing the flips off the diving board. There was also an intense game of pool volley ball: campers vs. counselors, where the counselors were able to narrowly escape with the win.
Thursday was the highly anticipated field trip to the Attitash Mountain Resort. The day started early and ended late but the kids had a blast. On the way to the mountains, the kids watched a classic movie, The Sandlot, which they all enjoyed. When we got to Attitash, the first thing 6A did was the Alpine slide. Here the kids were able to slide down and maneuver their sleds on the slide down the mountain. The kids loved it! After the Alpine slide, we did the Mountain coaster and the air bag jump. The mountain coaster was like a roller coaster that went through mountains, but the kids were able to control the speed of it. Many of our campers went full throttle and flew down the mountain!
One of the most popular attractions at the mountain was the air bag jump. Here kids were able to make a free fall jump from two or three stories high into a giant air mattress. It was a little scary at first, but many of our campers loved it and kept going on it over and over. Additionally, there was a water slide which was a great! After a long and fun day, we finally had to leave. On our way home, we watched the movie Frozen, and we had a blast singing along to all the songs--especially to “Let it go”. The whole bus was singing it, and we had a lot of fun on the ride back. On Friday, the kids built tin foil towns at Project enrichment with Miss Brackett. The kids made houses, skyscrapers, movie theaters, water fountains, cars, canoes, and even a McDonalds restaurant. The kids were very creative and had a lot of fun designing their town and making the buildings inside of it. Also Friday was the camps sports theme day and our group won! Be sure to dress up for next week’s theme and we will try to go for back to back wins! Hope everyone had a blast this past week, and we cannot wait to see everyone this week!
